LETTER FROM dying veterans: George Bush and Dick Cheney, YOU are guilty of murder
I am writing this letter on the 10th anniversary of the Iraq war for his fellow veterans Iraqi war. I am writing this letter for those 4,488 soldiers and Marines who have died in Iraq. I am writing this letter for the hundreds of thousands of veterans who were injured and for those whose wounds, both physical and mental, they destroyed lives. I’m one of those fatally injured. I was paralyzed, when we in 2004 circumvent the insurgents in Sadr City. My life is over. I’m in the hospital.
I am writing this letter for those husbands and wives who lost their husband, for those children who lost their parents, for those fathers and mothers who lost their sons and daughters, and for those who care about the many thousands of my co-veterans who have suffered brain injury.
I am writing this letter for those veterans who have suffered trauma and self-disgust in what they were seeing things in Iraq have experienced and done, and it has led to suicide and for those soldiers and Marines on active duty, you commit an average of one suicide daily. I am writing this letter for about 1 million dead Iraqis and for the countless wounded Iraqis. I am writing this letter for you from all of us – for the human detritus of your war, what remained for her, for those who spend their lives in endless pain and sorrow.
“I hope it will come before the end of your time on earth was going to end like mine, you will find the strength and character of forgiveness.”
I am writing this letter in my last letter to you, Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney. I do not write it because I thought that you run the terrible human and moral consequences of your lies, manipulation and thirst for wealth and power. I am writing this letter because before his own death, I want to be clear that I and my co-hundreds of thousands of veterans, along with millions of my fellow citizens, along with hundreds of others in Iraq and the Middle East fully know who you are and what you have done . You can escape justice, but also in their own eyes as you guilty of any horrendous war crimes of robbery and eventually murder, including the murder of thousands of young Americans – my co-veterans – who stole your future.
“You can avoid justice, but in our eyes you are guilty of any horrendous war crimes of robbery and eventually murder, including the murder of thousands of young Americans – my co-veterans – who stole your future.”
Your position of authority, your millions of dollars of personal wealth, your consultants, public relations, your privilege and your power can not disguise the emptiness of your characters. You sent us to fight and die in Iraq after you, are you, Mr. Cheney, avoided conscription to Vietnam and you, Mr. Bush, you ran over your AWOL from National Guard units. Your cowardice and selfishness is demonstrated decades ago. You were not willing to risk themselves for our nation, but you sent thousands of young men and women to sacrifice themselves in a pointless war, which came out of more benefit than you can get out of the trash.
I joined the Army two days after the attacks of 9.11 I joined the Army because the country has been the victim of an attack. I wanted to make retaliate against those who killed about 3000 so my fellow citizens. I did not join the Army to go to Iraq, a country which was not involved in the attack of September 2001 and did not represent a threat even to its neighbors, much less the United States. I did not join the Army to “liberate” the Iraqis or destroying capacity mythical weapons of mass destruction, nor implanted me what you cynically call “democracy” in Baghdad and the Middle East. I did not join the Army to rebuild Iraq, which at the time, as you told us, could be paid from the proceeds of Iraqi oil. But instead of this war for the United States, would involve costs more than $ 3 trillion. And especially I not enter the Army to lead preventive war. Preventive war is illegal under international law. And now I know that as a soldier in Iraq, I was an accomplice of your idiocy and your crimes. The war in Iraq was the biggest strategic drift in U.S. history. Disrupted the balance of power in the Middle East. Installed in Baghdad corrupt and brutal but pro-Iranian government, so what consolidates power through torture, death squads and terror. And it kept the Iran as the dominant power of the region. At all levels – moral, strategic, military and economic – Iraq was a flop. And you were not you, Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney, who started this war. You should be you who will pay for the consequences.
I did not write this letter, I’d wounded in fighting in Afghanistan against the forces that carried out the attack of 9.11 If I was injured there, I would have been on for so miserable because of his physical injury and impending death, but at least I have the consolation to know that the injury was the result of my own decision to defend the country I love. I would not have you here to lie to bed when I have a body full of anesthetic, my life is missing and I have to deal with the fact that hundreds of thousands of human beings, including children and myself included was offered more for less greedy oil companies, for your alliance with oil sheikhs in Saudi Arabia and your crazy ideas about empire.
I am like many others maimed veterans suffered disproportionate and often slapdash care provided by the Office for veterans. I like a lot of other veterans, I realized that our mental and physical wounds you at all interested, maybe not at all interested in politics. Abused us. They betrayed us. And we stayed abandoned. You, Mr. Bush, you have a lot of pretending that you are a Christian. But it is not a sin to lie? Murder is not a sin? They are not stealing and selfish ambition sin? I’m not a Christian. But I believe in Christian ideals. I believe that what you do the least of my brothers, eventually committing yourself to yourself, to your own soul.
My day of reckoning is already with me. Even yours arrives. I hope you will be brought to justice. But most of all I hope for yourselves, that you will find the courage to stand up to what you have committed to me and to many, the many others who deserve to live. I hope that before the end your time on earth was going to end like mine, you will find the strength of character to stand before the American public and the world, and especially against the Iraqi people and asked for forgiveness.
